The link between praxis and theory is an important aspect of Christian Development Studies. In the praxis of development work questions are arising which need reflection on a theoretical level, while development theory can provide impulses for improving the praxis.

One way of linking study and praxis are the praxis projects of the students. During the coursework, the students collect information from a specific project or programme and consider how the content of the modules can be applies in that context. The students also visit this project and conduct an activity they planned beforehand during that project visit. Students who are involved in a development project or programme may reflect their own work. The students record their reflection of theory and praxis in a portfolio, which will be graded.
